Description

Something from awhile ago, that I hadn't uploaded. Its based on the classical sculpture of the Greek poet Homer housed at the British National Museum. Only had some internet ref images to go by, so its not entirely accurate; I changed the base and the material on it, but all in all I think its pretty closely modeled. Its poly modeled the old fashion way; select points, extender, click and drag. I realize with something like Zbrush/Mudbox or the like, it could be sculpted in an evening rather than the 10 or so days it took me to build this, but where's the fun in that? Modeling this really helped me get a handle on poly flow and being able to work with quads when needed. In case you care, Homer is 14723 subpatched polygons, 14709 of which are quads. The pedestal is about 32k. Its not subpatched. Anyway, enjoy, and let me know what you guys think.

That is an amazing amount of work. Just remembering where to pick it up again each successive day would be an effort.

very well done and respect for using the old method...If you can do this without zbrush/mudbox, I really would like to see what you are able to do with this new tools... well done! Using Homer was also a great choice:)
