Yo! I'm Dawn, 29 years old, born in California USA. Yeah, I'm a Cali Girl! *eg*
I found this site totally by chance a few years ago... They should put up a warning label that says "Warning - you will become addicted to this site!" lol I'm a self-taught artist going on...oh...*pauses for a moment* almost 20 years. I find many inspirations - mostly by comic books and music, as well as other artist's works. I am totally into CGI - especially Poser, as well as working on my own artworks using Photoshop. I hope you like my works - I put a lot of myself into them. At the moment (beginning August 2007) I've gone back to school and I'm going for my AA in Art. For those of you who don't get it, it's my Associates Degree. Three years from now I'll have my degree *whimpers at thought of amount of time* Hey! If it will teach me more than I already know, great! :-)
Thanks for stopping by to check out my stuff!

I can relate to your hard work on this - realism is so very hard to achieve. If I critique your work, you'll have to critique mine at the end of the month - it's a deserted mini mart in the middle of a desert. So, here goes - Please don't take this harshly, it's only my personal observation. Overall, the scene looks painted - very beautifully painted, but painted nevertheless. The reflections in the light saber don't look real, maybe a bit too muted. They look like they are reflecting something, but it just doesn't look convincing. The saber itself looks like it is not connecting with the table surface on the left side. The butt end has a very slight halo underneath it, like it is floating just a hair off the table. The same kind of halo effect is around the cup just above the saber and it is much more pronounced. That light source at the base of the cup should not be there. Does the cup have a closed bottom? To a lesser extent, the halo is also visible at the base of the vase. In all instances you have a bright spot in an area that lies in shadow. This definitely detracts from the scene. Look at the base of the first three objects mentioned, all in shadow (not counting the hot spots) and now look at the base of the art globe - no shadow there. Having no shadow there, makes it look like the globe was pasted there as an after thought. Let's take a look at the specular highlights - maybe a bit too bright - take a look at the lip of the vase - compared to the top of the globe. Since you have a darker reddish brown fill light on the left side, giving the scene a darker moody feel, the specular highlights should be toned down, and don't forget to integrate the globe more with equal shadow and specular values. Did you bump map the table top? If so, you might want to increase that value a bit. Right now the table looks too flat. Actually, the whole table looks a bit flat. There is no geometry on the table, right? If not, it would really help the scene if you would model the tiles and accents instead of just decaling them. Ok, that's enough for now. Looking at your image, I actually like this look better than photorealism. It has that smooth dreamy oil painted look to it, something you might see from Vallejo.

x2ego: OUCH! lol No, I know what you are talking about. I noticed that after I rendered the bugger - the objects not set down completely, etc. Honestly, I thought they were set flush but I guess Poser didn't think so. The table is was bumpmapped...I just didn't want it sticking into anything if I turned it up too high. I think I had it set to .025 inch. I used the original reflect texture and dropped the base color cause it was way too high. I'm still learning the quarks and such, but I think I'm getting better considering this render I did earlier last year compared to my most recent posts :) I'm one of those people who (most of the time) just like to make something pre- set and click render. I don't often spend a lot of time on a scene, also because of the computing power of the computer I am now using. A 2 gig upgrade didn't help all that much :-s Hey, I got an idea...how about you recreate my picture to show us here what exactly you are talking about! hehe I'll even give ya the lights I made for the scene ;)

LOL, yes x2ego give it your spin would love to see it I love it and I don't look at faults and stuff for me you did a great job and if I had half the processing power you guys had I would die happy lol Angela

3Dillusions: I don't have that much CPU or memory as some of the more celebrated Poser artists here. This picture was made on a basic Dell computer. My most recent Poser work is made on a 580$ Acer with a 2 gig memory upgrade. Heck, I can't even play online RPG games on this bugger, or any high end games for that matter! :p Thanks for your comments all! It makes my day at 9 am right before my first class starts hehe
