Description

This one is a mile offshore, viewable from Ecloa State Park, just north of Cannon Beach, Oregon. As you might imagine, the construction of this lighthouse was very difficult. For one thing, there is no place to land a boat. There's a good story here and you can find others via a Google search. Thanks for stopping by and any comments.

What a fantastic shot of this lighthouse. It tells me you have a good telephoto lens, and Ken is jealous. I've never seen this lighthouse this clearly.

What a lovely day, calm and peaceful. I can't imagine being alone on this rock for months on end thru some of the storms that I'm sure must hit this spot. It looks like there is not even anywhere to raise a small garden, so one would be completely dependent on the outside world for everything. Thanks for sharing this image and story with us.

A neat picture Dennis. I cannot image waves damaging the lens 130-ft. above the water. That must have been really scary for the light keeper. Sig...

Excellent shot. I could have sworn I'd seen the light on in 1999. Hmmmm. Must find old photos.

I bet that would be an exhilerating place to be on a stormy night. Fabulous composition.

Wow. You took this from Ecola? Awesome. I can't tell you how many times I've been up there, and I don't remember seeing this! I was probably standing there dreaming of Haystack Bread or something. Thanks for the link. Fascinating information! By the way ... did I mention I like the photograph? Nice!!

It's always amazing how they can come to built on such places and not have it fall into the sea after a couple of good sized storms.

WOW! No place to land a boat... I might have given up. Object lessons indeed. This is wonderful.
