Description

My friends and I stumbled upon this old beauty in the middle of the bush during a mountain bike ride. I honestly have no idea how long it had been there or whether it ran or not. The tires were still tightly pumped up, but the cab was full of spider webs and creepy critter nests!! I am no expert, but it looks like a model from the end of WW2 (give or take a few years as I wasn't even born then!!). I have just seen too many old films! I will have a guesstimate and say its a mid-forties model, but I am sure there is someone who actually knows!!!!!! It was a great old truck though!

Here in Brazil we have a popular dictation: Old pot is that makes good food... That is splendid, you were very happy in the capture. Thank you for the opportunity to see that.

Judging from the chain draped over the fender, looks like someone attempted to tow it off to somewhere... maybe you scared them off LOL..... not sure of the year of the truck here.. but it reminds me of the movie Grapes of Wrath as the Joad family headed west ... except I don't think they past many pine trees.... great photo ~

Thanks everyone. Just as an update, a fellow from an American Chevrolet Association has confirmed that it is a 1946 model.

Here is a link to a photo from the U.S. of a similar model that has been fully restored. I am unaware of the U.S. photos author. http://www.classictruckworks.com/Red__Black_Truck_01.jpg

LouLouBell spoke it out: What a beauty! For me here in europe it is a typical american car, it is pure americanism, a part of american culture for itsself! A no museum is interested? Hope this car finds a sponsor! Great shot, my friend, and thanks for sharing!

A nice shot of the old truck...I drove a 54 Chev. for along time....It's name is Maxwell after the Beatles song Maxwell Silverhammer.....we sold it to my daughter, someday she's going to restore it.
