Description

Another shot from my own garden, from last Spring. This is lilac - one of my all-time favorites! They're very pretty, of course, but it's the smell I love most. I always cut big bunches to bring in the house. I can hardly wait for Spring! The lilacs should be in bloom here in only three months. * taps foot impatiently *

Finally after 3 years I have successfully kept 3 lilacs alive! I am hoping to see some sort of blooms this year... hope being the key word in that phrase. Your shot here really makes me want them to bloom though. Excellent.

Gorgeous lilacs! I always loved seeing them in the spring. Never have been able to get them to grow in Southern California. Too warm for them. Bunny

Fabulous and superb in its purplish elegance, Tara! I never ever see lilacs around here. Whenever I see the title, Bursting Forth, it reminds me of the scene in the movie, ALIEN, where the baby creature, mean as hell with all those long pointed teeth, bursts out of the chest cavity of the sick astronaut lying on the gurney, while his mates look on in horror. And, I like Winter so much I'm not that anxious for Spring to arrive. Especially in consideration of the perpetual drought conditions down here.

I agree, I can stand by a tree with my nose to a flower for ages. A wonderful clear capture of these beautiful flowers.

The absolute crispness of color and form of this lovely against the abstract and shadow or the green is fantastic T! Now where have you been keeping this? Instant fav for me.

Me too! Lilac is one of my favorite smells; the beautiful flowers are really secondary. Thanks for reminding me that I need to find a place to plant one in the new yard. :-)
