Description

I put this image together last fall, but never posted it as it seemed too busy. But to go with yesterday's post of an Inca Dove drinking, I thought I'd show this anyway. It illustrates, especially the one with the fallen oak leaf, how small and delicate these little doves are. They are only half the size of most doves, hardly bigger than a sparrow, and are common to extreme south and southwestern US states and Mexico. Though the occasional dove might come to an open tray type feeder, they are commonly ground feeders and usually appear in groups. Thank you very kindly for your generous views and comments.

These photos also show the dark edge of each feather producing the scaled look. A really wonderful collage.

they are absolutely gorgeous and so well and detailed captured. Once we fount a tiny little bird with shape exactly like a dove. It was tame. We found out it was a Diamond Dove. We put a note in the local shop and for long time nobody reflected on it. One day came a little girl and her father and told us that his daughter had to take care of a couble of doves for her school in the holiday, but unfortunately he himself accidently let them out. We never found the other one and they didnt want it back, so we kept it. It was sitting in the cage and did nothing else than eating a bit and calling. It was so sad, so we bought one more dove of the same kind to keep it company.. then we had 2 sitting and only sitting. We even bought a huge cage for them.... it didnt help. One day we saw a gigantic cage full of happy birds in a big Mall. We asked them if they would like to receive two doves if they would fit in there. They said yes and we put them there. Then we saw how happy they became. Now they were active flying around and ate like happy birds. For long time we visited them to se how they were and they lived happily ever after :)))

A gorgeous collage Maria, they are exquisite little doves, my favourite is the paler one bottom left, looks like a red ruby for its eye. thanks for the added information.
