Excellent shot with fantastic details. (I'm a smoker too, since I am 15 years old. I know, it's a bad addiction.)

was not a habit that I ever had, but I am sure as with any habit they are hard to break.my son smokes and he has coughing a lot.I keep telling him to stop now so his lungs will have a chance to repair theirselfs

I think you should give up! If Hoppypops can give up after nearly 50years so can you! Great photo, empty tin, no need to get another one! I do think the B&W post was better than the colour. Great to see you entering the competitions!

Well, Mick, like most teachers artists and policemen of my generation I smoked: 30 a day for the more than 40 years, mainly rollies. I've had asthma since my mid forties and I gave up for my millenium project on May 1st 2000, after I found myself crawling back up my absolutely level drive having put the bins out!!! I still like the smell of fresh smoke! I like the b/w pic best.

I have never smoked im asthmatic but im not a critic of people that do i think if your healthy and enjoy what you do then go with your gut feeling the only thing i dont like about smokers is the smell they give off after just smoking a cigarette apart from that no quibs from me right i better stop waffling have a great weekend Mick and a great pic btw !!!!

Well, its respectable that you do not smoke around the kids. I do not smoke, so I have not a clue on how hard it is to stop. What I can share is that both my sisters have quit, along with my long time sisters boyfriend. My oldest sister was so affected by a cousin of ours passing from lung cancer, she stopped cold turkey and never touched one since. My advice is to put your heart and soul into quiting. Nice image, by the way... take care my friend.

Ahh, I know your problem here Mick, I suffer the same one! Three times I have given up, the last time was for almost 3 years and still I went back to the habit! I too enjoy it and even the doctor told me that...once a smoker, always a smoker I think. For those 3 years I gave up it was hard not to just go into the shop and buy a packet, which I did in the end....Will power my friend...and instead of standing at the back door for one, go to the back fence line or out into the street, play little games with giving up, they do work sometimes! Good luck my friend!

Hey Mick! first off, would like to wish you a very nice weekend! secondly this photo is great! [as usual] your very good at photography I like to point out! And so now... about the smoking issue. it's really hard to say man. unfortunately I love to smoke myself! I smoke around 20 a day, tailor made mind you hehe. but have tried canned tobacco in the past. just a bit harsh really for me. so I just buy my usual, which is cartons of Pall Malls (filtered). oh boy... I bet I am making points with the ladies here yeah? haha! but yeah man, I cannot really say what to do. for I am on the same boat as you! but hey good luck with what smart decision you choose! oh man! dont do what this guy does!!! Bad Bad!! shame on him!!! lol ok night m8! your a swell friend indeed!

Well...When the so-called society makes something else legal(guess what) then I will quit but as of today I am down to 1/2 a pack a day....Funny, I saw the wrap's and had to look twice at the loose shards of tobacco as I thought..Maybe...Nay....
bclaytonphoto
I have to quit..I'm down to about 3 per day...for about 2 weeks now My blood pressure was out of control..never smoked a real lot..well maybe when I drank..Haven't had a drink in 2 months either..
krakosky
smokes death but working day to day too.cool idea.
frankie96
Really try to quit...I observed a brother-in-law waste away and die from lung cancer... totally related to his smoking habit..not something I would like to experience again..
delaorden_ojeda
excelent and funny capture, I am trying stoping smoking, but it is hard.Excelent work !
earthman236
Well Mick , good luck to you if you try . I recall George Burns swearing the key to long life was whiskey and a good cigar . But that Marlboro man aint got no hold on me . I can quit anytime I want to , I've done it hundreds of times .
beachzz
Quit if you can, Mick, but I understand how hard it is. I have a friend who was an alcoholic for years, quit, then quit smoking. He said giving up booze was a walk in the park compared to quitting tobacco!! I've never smoked (well, cigarettes, that is!), but grew up around my mom and dad's dirty ashtrays and that turned me off completely. So good luck, I'm pullin for you!!!

Like the photo, and sorry to hear about your struggles with smoking. Both of my parents smoked, and they quit cigarettes by the time I was 14, but my dad continued with cigars until his full by-pass operation on his heart when he was 64. I never smoked, and neither my hubby, but his parents also smoked. I have been around people smoking all of my life, and was diagnosed with asthma by the time I turned 50. It is a tragedy it has to be so hard to quit, and that is the problem, but pleased you are considerate of your family.

Beautiful capture. Great POV and composition. Unfortunately, you won't be packing it in until YOU WANT to pack it in. Even going to a Hypnotist won't work unless the WANT is there. You need to find a good reason to do it or it won't happen. Have a great weekend.

Great detail in this shot Mick, I think its a cracker to place into the B&W Forum Challenge. I only smoked (properly) from age 16 under peer presure until I gave up when I was 23, but even that short time in comparison had me hooked on a packet of 20 a day. I wasn't in a very well paid job married with two kids and I'd tried loads of times to pack in, then I put the money in a jar every day and watched it mount up. Never smoked since. (spent the money after two months lol.)

Join the crowd, Mick! I've failed at several attempts. Even tried the new "Chantix" drug, but had to quit because of side effects. If you do try again, I wish you the best of luck! Damn hard to if you still love it tho... have to really psyche yourself up for it!
annie5
Not easy but you can Mick..I am sure! Excellent capture.Happy weekend :)

After smoking for nearly 30 years, I quit almost four years ago, and still miss it! I don't think quitting is something you can talk yourself into. I'd been thinking about quitting for a while, and then all at once, on some weird level other than just mental, I decided it was time. I'd never had trouble with my lungs, and always loved to smoke, so I didn't have a really good reason to stop. It was just suddenly the right time. I got the patch, and have never smoked since. So all I can suggest is this: keep thinking about quitting. Every time you have a smoke, don't beat yourself up, just tell yourself you're one cig closer to stopping. When it's time, it will be easier than it's been before. In the meantime, pass me a fag, will ya? LOL! I had a bit of a crisis last night, and the first thing I thought was, "I need a smoke." They say it goes away after a while. I don't crave it any more, but I still stand downwind from my friends who are smoking!

more then fantastic,bravo Mick
