When I finished my research into how to create light art textures that I could control to a point of actually having characters form, I was stunned by what appeared in front of me one night. While I sat in the dark with this image in front of me, I wondered were this was all going to go. I knew I had something unique, maybe even a new art form, or at least a better twist on anything that had been done before. This image was generated in 1980. It's presence had such a profound impact on me at that time that it gave me enough impetus to find a way through the doors of the major film studios of Hollywood, with only my promise that they would see something like they had never seen before. I knew it would be maybe a decade before computer graphics manipulation of my work in films would become practical and hoped I could find the right projects that could advance the art form in the meantime. It did take 10 years from that point for the first 3D theme park film to use CGI to animate my visionary light art. This is the first time that this "founding" image has been seen publically.
