Yogi Berra said, "When you come to a fork in the road, take it." I once said,"we walk this way no more, together." Water runs downhill and so we are looking upstream here. It could be dividing to go around an island so we are looking downstream, but I don't think so. Thus it would take hard paddling in a canoe to approach this fork. Once there, running the rapids upstream would get even harder. Very little depth for the blade of a canoe paddle. In the US, South Fork and North Fork are more likely than East and West. East of the Cumberland Mountains and very East of the Mississippi I don't rememeber nomenclature for forks. Who ever heard of the North Fork of the Ohio or the South Fork of the Tennessee much less what Fork of the Shenandoah one is on.
