Description
Is the glass half full, half empty, or twice as large as it needs to be...? :-)
(LightWave 7.0b. Photoshop for compositing.)
This is my first gallery post on Renderosity. Any feedback is most welcome!

Welcome! Great render man! love the realism

Guess you are using HRDI? Cuz I have one, small niggle with it (personally) the two white spots on the rim are either too white or too big.... Could be that the rest of the glass has too much refractive black.... I dunno ^_^ Either way I like the caustics and reflection. Nice.

it looks wonderful. glass is a very hard subject to convey in 3-d. great job

Thanks for the comments! :) The glass has an HDRI image used as a reflection map. Scene lighting is one area light and one distant light. No radiosity on this -- the render took 9 hours as it was(!)

hey can you do a tutorial on this? I think a lot of people would learn a lot from your techniques. I know I would!

Outstanding realism! I can't tell if this is a rendering.
