Description

Dolfo¢ï¿½ï¿½s Messerschmitt me109. My first model created using MODO. I started this ¢ï¿½ï¿½project¢ï¿½ï¿½ about a month ago with the purpose of learning how to model, UV-map and set up the shared tree inside of MODO. I have a Cinema4D background but because MODO is a major part of the pipeline at my new job I thought it would be a good idea to invest a couple of weekends and evenings to learn MODO as quickly as possible. Some history to the image: Adolf "Dolfo" Galland was a World War II German fighter pilot and commander of Germany's fighter force from 1941 to 1945. He claimed a total of 103 victories in 705 missions. Typically open, blunt and a consistent critic of his superiors, as the war progressed, Galland soon became distanced from the Nazi hierarchy, who no longer tolerated his outspoken views. While a patriotic German, he increasingly found himself at odds with them over how they ran the war as it began to turn against Germany. In January 1945, he was finally relieved of his command and put under house arrest following the "Fighter Pilots Revolt" Work in progress images can be viewed here: http://www.colacola.se/wip_me109.htm

Incredible work! I have been waiting for a long time for this one. The only thing missing is the ever present cigar Galland was known for :o)

I read his book back in the 70's. When I talk about it folks dun me with Erich Hartmann. It is only since building my Hurricane that I really can see the postion of the stacks on this one consistent with an inverted 12. I gave my son several of my models (in .obj) to look at in Modo. He found that it makes some parts inside out like Poser does but inverting the normals just makes them black. Really great draftsmanship on this.

Congratulation. As always, your Airplane pictures are phantastic!! I realy love the accuracy and the Detail in your images! It seems like you learned handle MODO very well! Perfect!! (If you ever model a Hawker Hunter FGA9 which is one of the most beautiful Jetfighter ever build - imho - let me know!)

Beautiful work as always. The metallic texture is a joy. I always think this is difficult surface to achieve. Yours is excellent. If there is a problem I think it is because the image is 'too good'. Aircraft in wartime get handled and dirty and it usually shows.
