Description

Hello all, a little background on this photo.. It's not something I usually mention, but I have Bipolar Disorder. This picture I was going to call "Sanity in my palm" But decided "Sanity" was better. It's a sad fact that many people with both mental and physical illnesses often end up having to be on Meds for most of thier lives in order to function to a decent degree. It can be hard but a little understanding goes a long way :) Thank You for looking. :)

Powerful image and very good title. I can understand you don't like to talk about it. Very brave of you, I have something similar. I will probably be on Meds for life but I think they have found one that agrees with me. I use Renderosity and I also paint to keep my concentration. This helps enormously to keep me from intrusive and difficult thoughts. Sorry I go on & on don't I ?

An excellent shot, and the title is perfect. This really says it all. I admire you for mentioning it. Chemical imbalance disorders are more common than most people think. Five stars for the image, and ten stars for "coming out!"

Excellent shot with a very strong message. I admire you for sharing this. Most people don't know that one of five lives with some sort of chemical imbalance disorders. One of five, internationally. And, as you say, a little understanding goes a long way. :)

Congratulations on a few things are due here I think. First the image. Great capture and postwork, the selective colour works great in this shot. Secondly Courage! I admire you immensely for ‘coming out' in this way, to literally thousands of people all over the world. I live with mental illness every day, my wife has been poorly for well over ten years, so I know where you’re at, I also suffer with physical illness and will be on several different meds for life. Thirdly congratulations on being chosen for last week in the gallery, week 4. Excellent work all round. Bravo!!!!!

such a powerful photo and message. It looks great in the black and white with the selective colouring for the pills, as though they are the central focus of that persons' existance. I myself don't have a mental disability, i have several physical ones so i know personally how the fragility of life can be helped by meds. I was once asked why I didn't just stop taking all the 'chemical crap' with all their side effects....I asked the twit if she knew a good undertaker....I am on about a doz tabs a day to keep me alive and functioning. You are to be commended for your bravery in sharing this with us. I hope the community here goes some way into helping you achieve some sort of balance. Jen 5+++++

I, too, take things for physical problems. Drugs have probably prolonged my life. However, it bothers me that the pharmaceutical companies are not concerned with 'cures', but with 'treatments'. Watch the TV ads. Every drug they advertise is something that has to be taken long term, usually lifelong. They are getting us all addicted.

Bipolar disorder, formerly known as manic-depressive illness, is a mental health condition characterized by dramatic shifts in mood, energy, and activity levels. Individuals with bipolar disorder go through periods of extreme emotional highs, referred to as mania or hypomania, and deep lows, known as depression. These mood swings can range from mild to severe, significantly impacting daily life. Treatment often includes a mix of medications, such as mood stabilizers, antipsychotics, or antidepressants, alongside psychotherapy. With appropriate treatment, many people with bipolar disorder can live fulfilling and productive lives.
