Excellent shot and tones. Looks like metal powder on a magnet.

Nice! I remember having a toy when I was a child that had iron filings inside, and a magnet. You could move the iron filings around and make pictures with it. Yours is MUCH better! :)

Like Tara, I had several sets of magnets as a kid and was fascinated but magnetic fields. I turned every household object I could into magnets much to my mother's dismay. Nothing like opening her sewing basket to find all her pins, needles, sliding measures, etc. all in a huge ball at the bottom of the bag. Anyway I see this much like the dime store toy where you got a picture under plastic with loose shavings inside and a magnet on a wand. You pulled the shavings around to make beards, sideburns, eyebrows, etc. This is better though... I can really get a close up look at it.

You have stired quite a few memories with this one Mark, mine included. As a child I used to do the same play with the iron filings and like PJ with mothers sewing pins. In work however I moved to, slightly bigger things, for a period I drove an electro magnetic crane in a scrap yard, my magnet then was nearly six foot in diameter. Excellent capture, top notch macro. Bravo!!!!!
