Description

A couple of years ago, I took my daughter to visit Weir's Beach, thinking it was a pretty special place, and one she would enjoy. There was a horse trailer parked on the road above, where we left the car to walk down on the shore, but even so, we were not prepared for the delightful sight that greeted us when we turned the corner onto the beach. A couple were exercising a pair of llamas, who appeared to be 'off leash' (or perhaps had very long sand-coloured leashes!) and they were running and jumping over the many logs and driftwood piles, nudging each other, and generally having a great time. This shot reminds me that they were coming straight at us from the far end, though there were a lot more logs at the time. A very pleasant memory indeed. I smile whenever I think of it. Hope you smiled, too!

A fine shot of Weir's Beach at this end, Chris, but what is with all the flotsam and jetsam on the shore? Debris City! The aftermath of a storm? Definitely takes away from its potentially pristine beauty.

Would have been a great sight, and a super memory. This is a lovely winter scene and the driftwood looks interesting.

I'm so glad you can smile when you think back to that wonderful day! That is what memories are for and photography is a wonderful way to keep memories alive! This certainly looks like a lovely beach to stroll on - maybe take the dog for a walk, he'd love bounding over all that driftwood LOL!. An excellent capture and lovely composition too. Hugs Chrissy xx

Nice shot. Thanks for sharing the memory. I too have memories of a Weir's Beach.(New Hampshire, USA. Don't know if it's the same Weir's beach as yours) I worked on the Mt. Washington for two summers in the early 80's as a cook. One day in the early fall we were coming around the point to dock when I was called to come up to the front of the ship. As we came around and could see the town I could see flames pouring out of the windows of the building where I was renting a room. It was a bar called "Nashville North" that had recently switched from a country music bar to hard rock. The neighbors weren't happy and someone torched the place in the middle of the day. The owner's son was upstairs sleeping when the fire started but he managed to get out on time. I'm sitting here typing this wrapped up in an afghan that I made that survived the fire because it was under the sleeping bag I was using on my bed. One corner is a little melted but it was the first one I made and I've held onto it. I don't miss New Hampshire winters.
