Now I have to rant.... First off, Meatllica used to be cool. But then they cut their hair and released Load, the most aptly titled album ever! Their sales drop like a led balloon. They release, reload: Metallica fans still don't like their "New sound". Metallica can't figure out why their last two albums aren't selling like the previous ones. They think, " It can't be that the music sucks, we're METALLICA! We couldn't suck if we tried!" But oh how wrong they are. So, instead of realizing that the albums suck canalwater, they find Napster. They say, " THIS must be why our sales have dropped! We have to sue!!" And as for why Napster is legally considered theft as opposed to taping something off the radio... The recording industry gets a percentage of the cost of EVERY blank cassette sold in the U.S. since the eighties. They'll be getting it on portable MP3 players soon too... PRISM, I have owned at least one copy of every Metallica album released in the U.S.,(Except load and reload) and still have 4 albums. SHOULDN'T I be able to download the MP3's if I want? Metallica would rather I PAY for the MP3's also!! JW, Have you ever bought an album, only to find out that the song you heard on the radio was the ONLY good song on it? Didn't you feel like YOU got robbed? Ionah, Recording artists are different. Nobody's walking around with a Salvador Dali T-shirt, at least not one that Dali saw a percentage of... No one ever PAID to see Picasso PAINT one of his pictures... And, BTW, I just bought an album from Kittie, a band I would not have known about if not for NAPSTER!!

Musicians are artist who make music, how would you feel if you are making art and other people steal your work.

Couldn't agree more Lars is already got his millions. I don't mind if people look at my art or download only if they claim it's their's or sell it without permission. Napster is also a good way for not as well reconized artist to get a little more attenion to their songs.

yes I used napster quite bit too did know there's another like it out there called imesh which can be found and downloaded at www.imesh.com and to address most of the comments below mine do you guys ever record stuff off the radio or tape a film from the tv now tell me the diffrence maybe we should ban all broadcasts too then again nobody would get to hear it would they hence no sales, I buy more cds than anyhing but I still tape stuff first or download mp3s from napster and if i like what I hear I buy it

Pariah: I love your work, but I do take issue with the rampant theft being facilitated by Napster. Soulstripper: you need to do a little more research on the subject prior to calling being assholes...theft is theft, put the spin on it as much as you wish, but it's wrong...

So, Of the 3000 songs that you downloaded, how many actual albums did you buy? Napster = legalized theft. If you don't own the album you shouldn't have a copy of the song. Don't try to rationalize theft.

Can't we just appreciate the fact that the image is kickass! That this artist did a wonderful job of creating a T-shirt Design? The fact that it makes fun of that asshole Lars is just a Bonus!! Damn straight man, I am in odium over the fact that Lars is getting pissed off about "HIS" music being shared over the web.
