On the Planet of X'ara, in the outer constellation of X'anthus, a humanoid hunter gatherer tribe barely survives on the harsh and arid plains.
They are the descendants of one of the Nemaean Outreach ships, described in great and comprehensive detail on Chipka's pages, so only touched on here.
Suffice to say, the X'aran females nearly all died on X'ara due to cosmic radiation, and those that did survive, could not bear children as the males had become infertile, and the females turned into a Warrior Class. The Warrior females, led by She'ba, split away from the weaker males, whose withering gonads were failing to produce much at all.
There is but one Portal to the Neighbouring Moon of Th'aanagh, upon which lies pastures greener and pleasures greater than the privations endured by the X'arans.
On Th'aanagh, virile male humanoids could be found by the Warrior females.The X'aran females had but one working shuttle, and vied with other for the privilege of transport, 'trade' and 'recreation'.
However, to reach the shuttle, and to protect it from both unauthorised Warriors and and any inquisitive males, She'ba and a few chosen Warriors guarded the Portal day and night and only those who had negotiated a passage were let through to the shuttle pad.
