Description
from the cathedral of Ronda a fine exemple of this popular religious art. The figures, from a very Spanish School of sculpture of XVII century full of realism and expression are use in the famous Easter parades all over Spain. and are target of a very intensive popular cult specially south of Spain.

I came across many statues dressed in wonderful cloth when I visited Espana. Not just in the big cathedrals, but also in small parish churches. It looked nice, and it saves on painting the stautes all the time. In our church, in Glasgow, Escocia, we have special metallic cloth capes for our nativity figures. The kids love them. This is a very nice image, my friend. Some may find it too garish, or too decorated, but it shows that the artists are not afraid to represent realistic images. Regards, John.

wonderful shot showing the life-giving influence of the Spanish in relgious artwork. It bring an importance to images much the same way an exclamation point does in literature.
