Description

A wicked day today was difficult for birds and humans alike. With over 50mph/80kmh winds most of the day, I felt sorry for these little ones trying to feed in winds that made it hard for me just to stand. I don't know how they did it! I chose this image to show how they were buffeted by the winds and had to hang on for dear life. There was an 800 acre fire just a few miles from my home with over a dozen structures burned and many families evacuated. The air was rife with smoke and my nerves were as ruffled as this little guy's feathers. My homemade bird blind was destroyed and I lost a few tree limbs, but thankfully that was all. Thanks very kindly for your views and comments on my recent images. I truly appreciate it! Will try to catch up tomorrow.

Hope you are okay now, and the winds have died down some. I can see by the way the little bird has really wrapped his dear little feet around the branch, how he hangs on for dear life. Outstanding photography as always dear Maria - keep safe, hugs Jane xx

Looks like this pretty little guy has had a rough day lol or its awfully windy there. (Yup, I just read what you typed LOL) .. it's been horribly windy here, too, in Minnesota --- fierce cold front moved in bring our temps from 40 above down to -15F below with windchills in the -30's. this is a great shot. I love it.

they were clocked at 64mph at DFW an all time recorded history for Jan. I was at the lake and will post pictures tomorrow.I am surprised you were able to get such a in focus capture with the winds. I stood behind a tree so I could steady the camera and avoid the spray from the lake
