Description

As I was going through some old files yesterday I ran across a number of old images and renders which inspired me to put together this little retrospective of my equine art over the last 12 years. We start in the upper left hand corner with a pencil sketch I did in 1996 of a very Arabian looking unicorn. Then we have an image I did in photoshop in 1998- the proportions are really off but given that at that time I was drawing with a mouse instead of a graphics tablet, it's not too shabby. In 1999 we start getting renders using the Poser 4 horse with gradually more complex textures, morphs and postwork. I continued to primarily use the Poser 4 horse through 2005 and into 2006. In late 2006 I switched to using the MIlHorse starting again with the same sort of textures, lighting and postwork I had been using on the Poser 4 Horse. Then in the last few weeks I've taken a step forward with more complex lighting, less static perspectives and poses and different postwork ending up with an render that reminds in someways - pose and Arabian-type equine - of the the pencil sketch I did in 1996. At the time I did them I thought each of these images was one of the best I'd ever done but now I look at them and shake my head. I'm sure in 10 years I will look back again and marvel at what I think is good now too. :)

Having been a fan of your art and my inspiration for getting into the 3d realm. I remember all these. Some from only on elfwood and them from here. I have always been in awe of your ability to depict a horse or any animal from that matter with a style and grace all your own. I remember all the forum posts begging for someone to model a proper horse. I remember folks like bloodsong who thried to refine the poser horse better to your liking. It has been a sheer honor to watch your skill and talent grow with each image you create. I'm positive that as time goes forward you will continue to amaze us with your skill and ever present love of animals and the great beauty of the horse. The difference between 1996 and 2008 are striking but they are still excellent examples of the equine form. Lee

It's great to look to see how your work has come along over the years. I think the earliest I remember seeing of your is the one with the leopard pattern from 2004.
