My real name is Thomas McCann, I was born in Buffalo N.Y. in October 1952. I currently reside in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia U.S.A.,........I attended the Maryland School of Art and Design and studied Fine and Commercial art. I began working in traditional media at age 7 (mainly pencil sketches), then worked with watercolors and arcylics in high school. I started working with digital media about 11 years ago (1996), using Metacrations "Detailer", a 3D paint application. I currently use mainly Bryce 6.1 and Cinema 4D 8.1 and 3D Studio Max 4.2 for modeling and tweaks. I am currently learning Rhino and Zbrush. Thanks for your attention.

Excellent scene. I love the clouds and wonder how you got them in Bryce. I have tried to use the Zenith lighting and never got satisfactory results. You did good....wonderful.

Good one, Tom! I've got a picture for Ratfugel in the works, too. Tell me more about Sketchup. Not familiar with it.

Saw something similar to this last summer at the English Heritage show. A great render, I'm sure ratfugel will be pleasantly suprised.

My apologies for not commenting sooner as I've only just seen your image. Great stuff. Just what I had in mind when I asked you guys to come on to the page. Bryce is badly undervalued as I already said. The program has great depth if one cares to use it properly. Like most things in life, you sometimes have to work harder for the good stuff. To answer how you can get clouds into Bryce. Either make them the hard way, using overlapping stretched spheres etc, which works very well, or you could even import a photograph (using Galileo) as a bill board, take it to the background in 'edit' and then enlarge to fit, setting the up the lighting as you go along. If you do go this way, make sure any objects you use do not cast shadows on to the clouds!

Actually, the way I did some of the clouds in this image was by way of postwork with Flaming Pear's "Cumulus" Photoshop plug-in. I created an object mask render of the aircraft and layered the clouds in with PS7. Thanks for the comment ratfugel, glad it fit's the bill.
