BIO
For around 20 years I was a professional wedding and portrait photographer winning a couple of Kodak awards but turned to landscapes about a year ago in 2005.In my wedding days I shot on a Bronica 6 x 6 format but my camera now is a Nikon D100 and I feel that digital and Photoshop opened a whole mew world to us guy's and gals. I am based in the UK moving from the south to lancashire at the end of 2005.
So its now 2009..long time since I updated my bio.
Now shoot on a Nikon D200 and process my work through Photoshop CS3.
Been to a lot of places since moving north.Three times to Scotland..going again in September 2009.
Had a week in Snowdonia..brilliant place....cant say the same for the weather we had.Ventured down to Devon...been for a week in Northumbria..had a glorious week on the North Yorkshire coast.Walked miles around the lake district in Cumbria.
Been to west Yorkshire no end of times and that's just the places I can recall.
Tried and tried to improve my photography which if any one looks thru my gallery back to the early days may agree that it has come a long way.
So many places still to see in the UK.We must have some of the loveliest places on earth to photograph here..there will never be enough time.Â

Beautiful colour and composition! I hadn't heard about the shipwreck but it's not suprising considering the terrible weather we've had in the UK recently. Great capture!!

What an impressive shot! Magical colors and the people really help give the scale of the large size of the ship! Very opportune and very beautiful image.

I heard nothing about this! Incredible and to see it is even better than hearing about it. The way the sun turns it into a romantic image is fabulous. Great job.

Love the composition - good thinking to go out and take this shot, it isnt something you see every day, and you looked at it through an artists eye rather than just going for the documentary image and it paid off - very surreal. :)

They obviously knew that there was a better market at Cleveleys... ;o) Strangely a passenger car ferry, the Princess Victoria, on the Stranraer-Larne route between Scotland and Northern Ireland, sank in an horrendous storm, on 31st January 1953, 55 years to the day. Over 130 died. About 40-50 were rescued. Luckily there were no deaths in this storm. Modern radar, radio, Coastguard ( British and Irish ), RN and RAF helicopters helped to make the difference. Even people who live next to the sea often lack a full appreciatio of, and respect for the angry sea's strength and ferocity. I well remember the three police officers who drowned after a dog was washed away, 5th January 1983. Several locals, holidaymakers, even a fisherman, have died after being swept away on the Fylde coat over the last 25 years. Regards, John.

Hi John, Thanks for history. As you rightly say it is a beautiful coastline but people do under estimate the dangers of mother nature. We should spare a thought for the people who were on the ferry.Just imagine how they felt. They were only a few hundred yards from the safety of land and could probably see the lights of Cleveleys but had no way of getting off before help arrived and we should spare a thought for the brave guys who got them all ashore. Have a good day all. Eddie
