Description

Just a little collage of when we went to the vet to pick up our new little friend, Pepper, who we got through the Humane Society. Pepper was found abandoned on the street by Animal Control and had been in the kennels for over a week before we came looking for a new friend. I guess no one else wanted her since she looked dejected and all alone in her pen but we saw a wonderful family pet in her. She's still a little out of sorts from the anesthesia and trauma from surgery (she got "altered", as they put it) and proceeded to throw up on my parents' floor when we got back to town. It's OK since she proceeded to throw up on our floor when we got her home and then again in the middle of the night. But today she's doing much better and is starting to hold food down. I apologize for the low quality of the shots, but all I had at the time was my cell phone. (All we know about her is that she's apparently a spaniel mix or some sort. The family vet will be able to tell us more when we take her in for more shots in a couple of weeks.)

Great Pictures! And Bless You for taking in an abandoned dog. I It does look like there is some German shorthaired border collie in her, along with the springer spaniel. Was probably abandoned due to the skittishness in her. You will probably find that she will be tentative of most everything - but loyal to no end. My suggestion is to make sure she gets as much socialization as possible - to everything. Don't assume that because she's afraid of things that she needs to be protected. Also, ask your vet for a referral to a trainer. I always suggest taking at least one class - even through your local PetCo or PetSmart, etc. Good trainers will be able to spend 1/2 to 1 hour with the dog and know what problems you might encounter - and what to do to overcome them. We rescue border collies and have seen ones that were so abused they'd take your hand off become the most gentle of creatures. Dogs forget the 'bad times' quickly if you shower them with the good.

you got some great pictures from a cell phone... the dog looks a little camera, and what's going on struck. Pepper is a great dog name.

We had a terrier mix named Pepper years ago, and that was the best dog we ever had. Yours looks like she will make a fantastic pet with the proper training. Good for you for finding her! Excellent collage which shows the joy in finding her, and bringing her into your lives.
