Description

As promised today is the real deal! Please zoom in for full efect and dust motes. lol. My camera is the FujiFilm S9600, a 'Bridge Camera' So called because it is neither a compact nor DSLR, it has a permanately fixed lens, does not unscrew so that you can change lenses like a DSLR. The lens is a pretty decent 28-300mm, but like everybody else, I like to take different subjects at different distances. So this is where the add ons come into it. Top left, the 0.45 wide angle, this is not like your normal wide angle, because when you screw it onto the front of your fixed lens, it causes vignetting, so you have to zoom out. What this lens does is give you a wider view at the telephoto end of your zoom, so that when you zoom out to your subject you get a wider view than a normal 300mm lens would give. Believe me when I tell you it has it's advantages. The top right is a 2 x tele converter, I don't think that requires much, I think we all know it gives me twice the zoom to 600mm. Top middle is the Extreme Macro lens, this screws into the empty snap on, which as it implies snaps onto the front of your normal lens just like a lens cap does, the difference with this and the Super Macro is that you work it at full zoom of your lens for best effect. That is you attatch your snap on then zoom out to full extent in my case 300mm. When you first start with one of these it is difficult to find your subject for the final focus. What I do is set up the subject through the lens at the wide end and then zoom in gradually you then have to manipulate either the tripod(which is difficult) or the subject matter,(My next purchase is going to be a slide rail, to make things easier). What I do is place the subject onto white card and drag it bag and forth until I get it in focus. The trouble is with these lenses the dof is very shallow and it is very difficult to get all of the subject in focus, that is unless the subject is flat. That folks is where my money goes, I also have your normal macro lenses that screw on the front of your lens, a 10x, 4x, 2x and a 1x magnifacation factors, and of course my trusty hand held magnifying glass as shown yesterday. I was rolled up laughing at some of your comments from yesterday, the wife came in and asked if I was OK, did I need a drink of water. Thanks for stopping by for a look see(I hope I haven't bored you too much) and for any comments you care to make, good bad or indifferent I don't mind. May the sun shine down on you, where ever you are. Glorious sunshine here right now.

Spanish, I do not know how accurate this is, I used a free translator on the internet.

Excellent Jeff! Great to see how you use your lenses on a fixed lens camera. I have an old Minolta A2 with wide and zoom addon lenses I use as a backup, works pretty much the same way as your Fuji. I assume the x4 in the middle is the 202 lens you have been using for your recent macro uploads. This is great!

That's a splendid set, I just started with my new Olympus E410 and a 50mm 1:2 Macro, and I'm having real fun. I'll try to make some improvement to my camera when I learn a bit more... but oh yes, it's all so expensive, he he... Thanks for sharing ;O)

OMG, Jeff, this is great, even with all this sophisticated equipment, you tell your story with so much humor!! I can just hear your wife asking if you're ok!! I was sitting here the other day chatting with a friend, and I got to laughing so hard I couldn't even see the keyboard. She kept asking why I was misspelling so many words, heck they weren't even misspelled, I had my fingers on the wrong keys!! This is just so great, I love it!! Oh yeah, some dang nice lenses you have there, too!!

ok, too many decisions for this bubble head of mine. Its all I can do to find the clicker on most cameras. Matching a lens to a camera to a planned shot would limit me to the max!
