Or option e. None of the above? I love the idea of it being a. Mole holes on mars! lol! So, I'll go with your second macro attempt? Whichever it looks fantastic and a very striking colour - great detail and great capture!!

I think the answer is John Lennon. Because: -"who was given a pat on the back" leads to Pink Floyd's album "Animals" -The Beatles did a song called "hey Bulldog", and a bulldog is an animal -Lennon was a Beatle and he sang that song -He also sang in " A day in the week" : "Now the know how many holes it takes to fill the Albert Hall", and this closes tyhe circle and brings us back to your photograph. Indeed: they do, and so the answer is: John Lennon!

Excellent macro! You know, all the options above could be the right ones, at the same time. But I want to add a fifth option: A dried seed pod from a lotus flower. Regardless of the correct answer to your question, Tanchelyns answer must be the best one! :)

Seed pod. Very cool macro! But as much as I like Tanchelyn's answer, I have to go with lifeenjoyer, because people who quote Monty Python movies are as cool as the people who know they're quoting Monty Python! :) A duck! (It's a fair cop.)
