Description
Ansel Adams was born on February 20, 1902, in San Francisco to Charles and Olive Adams. He states that he lived a happy, peaceful childhood in his autobiography. "My closest experience with profound human suffering was that earthquake and fire (in 1906). But we were not burned out, ruined, or bereft of family and friends. I never went to war, too young for the First and too old for the Second" (5-8). The only true suffering he experienced was frequent illness, according to his accounts (Adams 9). His interest in nature, however, was with him even in childhood. Adams enjoyed exploring the outdoors, and his favorite activity was collecting insects. Running, walking along the beach, and golfing were other activities he enjoyed http://www.veritasdigital.com/ansel_adams/biography.html
I took this in Utah on the East side of Zion park. I think someone else took a similar picture and posted here 2-3 years ago and I would bet it probably is the same gentleman
I shot it in monochrome

wonderful shot.

Well, that's cool. I like that it's possibly the same person. I once heard that Adams took three years to get a picture just right with the sunlight. That patience is what makes a great photographer.

There is an Ansel Adams gallery in Carmel, CA, and we bought a lot of his prints there. We really enjoy the work he did. As far as that 1906 earthquake you mentioned, that was the year my grandmother was born, only she was in Idaho. I love to think there are more Ansels in the world than just the one. :o) Excellent image.
