Description

Hello all! Went to the zoo with Georgy this week to see the new gorilla exhibit . Shot this little Mother and baby scene with my pocket cam ( found out the slr canon I bought on eBay is dysfunctional I knew it never really worked right- hmm -yep, last time I buy something 2nd hand!) so a bit grainy from the zoom. Took this Mama and Baby from pretty far away so played with it in paint shop a bit doing the painty/smudgy thing I do...( sometimes get carried away lol)_oops! (Hey its fun to play though) Wasn't sure if I should put this up in photography or 2d but the entire shot compo (other than the grain ) was like it is here so will put in in photography today.. Anyways fell in love with this baby that was along for the ride on Mama's back. The little guy was so cute and cuddly it melted my heart, I felt lucky to capture the little one hugging mamas back as she smiled my way ! Then there was another gorilla there ,that actually did sign language!! ... so I signed to him that he was good and that I loved him and WOW ~he proudly signed back "thank you" and clapped and made this big annimated faces! It seemed surreal to me at that point like I was communicating /connectiong on some level with this amazing animal and it's something will never forget! I wondered if it had been in some kind of signing program. At that point the camera took back burner and I was embraced in the moment! M'girls went up to the snow for the day (inner tubing) so have some time on the comp here finally yeaaaa... Thanks for all your time and comments ,as well as beautiful work ! Love to you all! ((( BIG HUGS ))) ~ Kimmers ! ♥ ! :O

With your little pocket camera and your postwork, you get a very pleasant picture. The mother and her baby are very tender and gives us much joy for this evening! Congrats! 5+++!

See... just goes to show... where we all came from... just what was the sign language, if I was in a cage and and ugly humans were looking back at me... I could only think of one sign that comes to mind right now...LOL Sweetie image Kimmie, the really good think about this is the baby only hangs around for a short time, not like our kids that hang off us for the next 30 years at least. Those Grilla mother have fat dummies eh.

Wow... the photo and what you have done to it is awesome, but the story behind it is even more so. I am certified in "Dactylology" (sign language) and would love to have had a chance like that! Li

I hope you didn't leave good feedback for the camera you got Kim. I always wait until I have recieved the item and tried it out. If anything is wrong then, I let them and everybody else know about it. Excellent capture and postwork, hope you can get the slr working again, without too much cost. Bravo!!!!!

Awwwwe Kimmers, wonderful pic and post work, even for a point and shoot. Awesome story about the signing. Are you sure that the ape signed "thank you"? If I were that ape I would have signed "hey babe, get the key for this joint and take me home with you"

A movingly beautiful capture, Kimmers. I am so happy you had those moments of contact with the gorillas. Mind blowing experience. I used to swim with a dolphin in the wild.. We communicated too, an experience that has forever stayed with me. Superb work and nice little pocket cam!!!Hugs for you and all your family. Diane.

Great shot! Reminds me of 'Gorillas in the Mist'. I watched a special on a gorilla named Koko who signed. How thrilling to actually interact with one of these magnificent creatures. Great postwork, Kim. I really love this one.
