Description
I was able to take some time to work in zbrush after finishing my illustration work. As hands and ears have always been my weakest modeling skills, I've been really plugging away trying to get it right. It's gotten much closer, as you can see. Still just a tad on the blobby side. I'm going to take it down to subdlvl 1 and re-tweak my verts and contours a bit. Not bad for a test though. I have made friends with the "flatten" brush as well. lol.
Since I always like to give bits on how it was done: I used my own hand as a reference and just sculpted my zsphere base hand that I always use. No texturing. The skin, believe it or not, is actually a capture of the Poser6 SSS shader. I rendered a hi-res ball with subsurface activated and and applied lighting. Then I just cropped the sphere and plopped it into the matcap slot and, voila! used ....I think it was... light#2 from one of SoCalRoberta's freebie lightsets. Which came in quite ..."handy"... nyuck! nyuck! snort! ;) And it had the best result. I always come back to those you know, Roberta. They always seem to have just what I'm looking for, with very little adjusting. So, thanks for those. They've been a real godsend, especially now that I can emulate them in Zbrush too. :)
