Description

Considered by Benjamin Franklin to be a bird of courage and respect, the turkey was once in the running to become the national bird of the United States of America. Rather than my often posted Bald Eagle.. The bird that so captured Franklin's heart has become a different kind of national icon for the U.S I must admit to being rather taken aback by the quite stunning colours and display of this Tom or Male Turkey.. The name was a mistaken ID of what was thought to be another type of bird a Guinea fowl, and not from Turkey as was first thought.. Brought into Europe by the Spanish in the 1500's the more one reads about this intelligent social bird the more I think Franklin may have been onto something! Thanks for taking time to look and for any comments

I am not sure about their intelligence, but your capture is perfect.I think most of what Chickens and turkeys do is from instinct.they can be very cagey for hunters

That skin really does look weird - reminds me of the Emperor in Star Wars! lol! Excellent job with the colours Danny, and I really like the way that the feathers reflect the light! Nice one mate!
