Description

Here's another shot from Thursday's gathering at the hospital cafeteria. Hand held, zoom, using Trent's shoulder as a stabilizer! Trent said, "Boy, I don't know what you're going to do with THAT shot!" Oh, ye of little faith. :) Here's the answer: I postworked the poo out of it! :) Increased the grain on the brass bits, lightened up the ceiling tiles (the light was really yellow in there), did a couple of lighting filters in Photoshop, threw a little bit of abstract-y filtering at it, cropped it ... It's amazing, how much work I can do for such a simple result! LOL! The track lighting in there was set up in serpentine patterns all over the place. Very swoopy. All you abstract folks out there would have loved it!

I like the color you landed on, the drop in ceiling adds a nice background texture. Super capture and great post work. Todd

Swoopy is good. I think this was an excellent use of your organic tripod, or in this case, bipod.

Before reading your text I thought, shower curtain, curtain rail round the bed, even mono rail. I then noticed that nothing would get past that brass anchorage. Track lighting never entered into the equation at all. Very interesting capture, you don't half come up with some things, very enjoyable things though. I would love to have seen the whole layout. Excellent original idea. Bravo!!!!!

i love your explanation of how you did it tara :o)..your eye was obviously looking all the time for a shot, i know i do the same now :o)..this to me at this point in time would have had no interest which only goes to show how much more of an eye you`ve got than me. superb work my friend top marks :o) mick

This is a brilliant shot, wonderfully seen and I like the fact that you worked the poo out of it! Sometimes the smallest things lend themselves to such amazing end results, and it's always things like this that are fun to play around with! Of course, I still have "The Guardian" in my head, and when I saw it, I thought that maybe the brass head thingie contained all sorts of backchannel sensors that turn the lights on and off when you enter or leave a room...which just shows you where my mind often goes, especially when I see simple "realistic" things. I love this image though, the colors are brilliant and crisp and the fact that you don't reveal all of what you've photographed (and tweaked) you leave so much open to interpretation! Fantastic work!
