UltraFractal 4.04 Thanks so much for your view/comment! I had a great time last night at a Chinese New Year party at the home of Malaysian friends. This is a traditional family day to pray to the gods for good things (prosperity, longevity, etc.) and to banish evil spirits (with loud noises and bright lights). All the food served is symbolic of good things (long noodles for longevity, tapioca cake to persuade the Kitchen God to give a good report on the family.) I was the only person there that did not speak Cantonese, so general conversation was a bit confusing, but I did get to have great conversations with many of the guests, one on one in English. If you are ever invited to one of these celebrations, be sure you say an enthusiastic YES! This image is a symbol of the custom of burning joss paper money, for use by your ancestors in heaven as well as asking the gods to grant you prosperity in the coming year. I hope you enjoy :)
