Hello ALL !!
Here is a little photo collage from last Nov I have had in my files that I almost didn't put up ...
but,...
The experiance was so unique and surreal that I thought I have have to share it! .
Last Nov we took this little Day trip to Hoover Dam area and veered off a path to find this little dock at Lake mead. They have this docking area where the fish are like 5-20 pounds and you can bend over the dock and actually hand feed them like Dogs ( Mike calls these fish suckers . lol) My Aunt and my Mom had to leave so I didn't have alot of time for taking pictures but I managed to get these in this little collage. THey WERE SO HUGE !! OMG That one single fish was so big there LOL!! I thought he was going to eat my camera ( or bite my hand off )I was only like 2 inches away !! YOu can even pet them...haha!
I had never before had such a close encounter with fish that were not caught or behind glass...
Anyways here are some shots I took that day with my pocket cam . Chrissy -my daughter -is in the lower right hand corner you can see how big the fish are next to her she is feeding them popcorn!!. SO many of them come up at once at you when you have food that it is quite overwhelming it made me laugh so much !! (I was going to put just the fish shot up but thought it would be better if you could see where it was shot at !!)

Reminds me of my experience in Hawaii, we went to feed the ducks at this little lake and all these huge fish came up and scared the heck out of us!!!! Cool collage, I'm not sure I would pet them though???? thanks for sharing!!!!

Beautiful collage Kim, my sons biggest carp capture is 52lb(pounds), imagine a lake full of those. Excellent close up of the open mouth, all of them are great but I like that one the best. I have a pond out in the yard but my biggest only goes to about twelve pounds, he's a ghost koi. Brilliant work. Bravo!!!!!

I've seen Koi in an pond do that in large numbers, so I guess other fish can too. I've never heard of this place. It is incredible, especially that HUGE fish. Great collage, and very interesting, Kimarie.

Last time I was at Lake mead it had receded on the upper end so now it is only a small river. Very nice collage you have put together. Well done. :)

Not sure but I think these may be asian carp. Which have become a huge problem in the mississipi and illinois river. and the goverment is going throu alot of trouble to try to prevent them from reaching Lake Michigan. Where they could invade the great lakes. The fish multiply like crazy and grow to 60 pounds by eating the same plankton that other fish eat. Biologists fear the carp could crowd other fish out, including bass and saugeye in the Illinois and mississpi river and salmon in the Great Lakes. Wow! Thlat is a very strange thing to see. And the comment from jorgegallardo ...ducks walking on the fish...That would be even more strange! That is one ugly fish, but a nice shot! Thanks for the pics and the story. Great post!

good capture of those creatures, i live in vegas and had visited them myself, you can call them like a herd of cats to food, lol, and those mouths so open, they are unbelieveably large, if they had teeth they would look like prana at a feeding frinzy..... lol
