Description

Created with ZBrush, Lightwave and Photoshop. This image depicts a scene from the Dragonlance novels. Where Tanis (the guy who fell on the stairs) and his companions (Sturm, Raistlin, Flint + 3 others not shown in the image) venture into the underground ancient elven kingdom of the Sla-Mori. That's where Tanis was about to be killed by the slug (after it had disintigrated his bow). Somehow Tanis realized he had the dead elf king's sword in his hand and killed the slug. After the battle, Tanis recalls that he had not taken the sword, but rather the dead king actually handed him the sword, which turned out to be Wyrmslayer, an ancient artifact. That's a summary of the situation of the scene. But it should add a bit more context to the image. The Dragonlance books were my favorite as a kid! This was the first time I tried using ZBrush for sculpting. The giant slug, hands, heads and clothing were modeled in ZBrush. Lightwave was used for rendering most of the image with some Photoshop painting as well in places. A few pieces were rendered in ZBrush then composited in the image. Due to the horizontal format, it's best to view it at full size.
