You did an awesome job! Blade Runner is one of my favorite films. You did a great job capturing a gritty, futuristic atmosphere. The only thing you're missing is that Blade Runner has a much darker look, but then we wouldn't be able to see all your details. I'm amazed with all the stuff you got going on here without killing your computer! LOL. This is excellent!

I think your dark images are just ingenious! Keep them comming! DARK CITY I remember this movie (late 90ies) with Rufus Sewell and John Hurt. The movie, well it was not BLADE RUNNER, but unlike most films with few exceptions, it had the capability of putting you in a certain mood...

super!

It's a cross between Blade Runner & Judge Dredd, all you need is Dredd on his Lawmaster & you've got Mega City One perfectly. :D

Krid, it is very good, and I ADORE that film ;) What could really make the scene fantastic: 1) the classical wet/rainy look, the specularity helps lighten it up. 2) SOme more lights here and there. For example, put lights on the cars..where are their headlights? Image is definatley too flat looking, more light/specularity would help a lot, especially on the crowd in the middle. Hm, maybe add a large light as if coming from the windows of the building in middle of right hand side of road, spilling across cars and onto the crowd? Say 3 area light rectangles, as if windows were throwing light from a bar or club? 3) If the cars are moving, put some post work motion blur on them to give a sense of motion. 4) Break up the right hand edge of the road, it's too linear and thus seems to "CGI", by this I mean add trash,w ater puddles, trash bins or the like. 5) make it a night scene, it would look better I think as it seems to be twilight. :)

Fantastic gritty futuristic scene! 5++

You did an excellent job on this and captured the feel of BladeRunner quite well. Its a hard look to capture I would think. Not sure what you could have done, maybe more neon lights and wet/rainy look as silverblade33 suggested. You definitely got the gritty futuristic panoramic feel down pat though!

I think it's fine--I think the mistake people make is that they don't sit down and think of what their own vision of a future city would be, rather than Ridley Scott's version. Mine has a lot of pink and silly curves and decorations;-)
awadissk
well done work
Clemme
Fantastic work. I do understand why you wont mention all the free stuff ;o)
Forevernyt
I think you succeeded in creating your own dark city, using the Bladerunner idea as motivation. Better to create original, with motivation than to copy and be unorginal, right? Well done.

i agree with Forevernyt, it seems like you're own dark city. personally, i think if you haven't lived in an east asian city, it will be hard to really duplicate Blade Runner specifically. so much of the aesthetic isn't so much futuristic as contemporary large asian cities. i think yours is still very interesting, and this is a great shot of it. i hope you show us further explorations. everything has a wonderful gritty texture, and the people are posed amazingly well considering how many there are. the clumps of people seem very natural. my only critical comments are the air cars seem too orderly, the lighting seems perfect for indoor but missing something for outdoor light, and the bright contrasting yellow makes the air car taxi a focal point yet it appears uninteresting (for now). really great combination of elements. it looks natural, and very much yours rather than the combination of other people's models and textures. it takes a lot of skill and even more vision to do that. kudos!
