Description

Hubble Space Telescope was only the beginning. What astronomers had always known was that space with both beautiful and terrifying beyond their ability to imagine. What Hubble showed the general public was that even at its most terrifying, it was stunningly beautiful. Later we added the ability to search the skys in x-ray, ultraviolet, infrared, and a host of other spectrum. All seemed to add to the wonder at how beautiful it could be. The day space probes began to venture into even further reaches of space, humanity rediscovered the ability to wonder, as the reports these probes sent back could only make the view pause, and feel the magic that a fiery furnace larger than those of Valhalla made possible in our imaginations. ----------- This is a return to a purely space picture for me, as I was once again playing in Photoshop. This started out as the backdrop for my previous post, but I just couldn't leave it alone. I expect I'll probably playi with it some more, too. If any of you would to use this for their own enjoyment, I'm giving my permission to have at it. I still have the version with a zillion layers, so I can also peel out the starscape, or the stellar-whirlpool, for instance if you want. Thanks for taking a look, and don't forget the wonder of the night sky when you dream of the furnaces of magic. Michael (Nefarious Dr O)

Ooooh, I love this image! Your stuff rocks, and the starscape is nicely dynamic, the planet is beautifully rendered, but what gets me is the image as a whole. The colors are splendid, the clouds are stunning and I love the vague hints of blue around the central star. You've captured some great stuff in this render.
