Description


On this little expedition, Lady Carrie and I set out to find more green sand. Green sand is formed by the gemstone olivine (peridot) that has been brought to the surface from deep below the earth by volcanic action. All we had to do was take the "Road to the Sea" and look for sand. Aloha and thank you for viewing.

I love the waving layering you got in this shot of the rock. I learned something else from you... peridot is olivine as well. Never heard olivine but I adore peridots! (and tourmalines LOL. guess you can guess green in my favorite color.)

Green sand! That sounds interesting. Excellent view in this image. Former rock hound, here. I love the peridot/olivine rocks that form in the landscape. I had a few samples of them, but have lost them to time. I have a new rock collection now, though. ;o)
