Description

Ok, so I'm not at all sure I used the right settings on my camera for this, but these two shots were the best that came out. I figured that by the time I figured out what settings to use there wouldn't be any more eclipse to shoot in the first place. This was at the very tail end of it. Not sure why it doesn't show up in the top one as well, maybe 'cause I'm zoomed out more. *shrug* But the top one shows (well I think it does at least. lol) Saturn to the left and Regulus on top. I couldn't find anything more than that they were both supposed to be visible around the moon tonight, so I could have those backwards, but if I zoom way in on the left hand dot I see what looks like rings. Maybe it's some blur of some sort since I'm not really sure a 10x optical zoom would pick up rings from here, but I'm going with Saturn anyway. :D LOL Hope you all got a chance to see it. Looked great! John (who's almost caught up with e-bots and will try to stay more current - no guarantees though. :) )

Well, John... I never managed to capture Mother Moon at all and so I think you did a great job with these shots. I read the comments about how to photograph her and it's almost french to me... Anyway, it was all cloudy over here and I couldn't see the eclipse, so I'm glad to see it in your photos! On the other side I don't mind missing such an event since I was lucky to be in the 100% zone of 1999's eclipse of the sun. That was remarkable and I'll never forget it. The birds went silent and all animals went to sleep. We were in a high place and could see the shadow move. Kind of a belated birthday present of nature. One day after I turned 18 grin Hmmm, I'm talking too much...
