Description

Thanks for looking. This is an experiment in image based lighting. I think this might be the secret to realistic looking images, but I could be wrong. Let me know what you think, and if you have any tips for me to make the next image better, I'd really appreciate your help.

The render of her is nice, but doesn't match the background. Image based lighting is the key to great renders, but you have to choose the images carefully, not just to generate color, but also shadow quality. Your BG is very dark and contrasty, but she is very evenly, flatly lit. You would expect her to be in dappled, mottled, forest-ish type leafy shadows if she was "really" in that environment. As it is, she stands out as "unattached" to the BG, attractive though she is. You need to cast jagged, leafy partial shadows on her and vary the light more. Even if she was in a forground clearing, the overhead sunlight would be more directional from above.

It's a great render but actually the trees should not be that blurry. If they were farther away, yes, but closer, no. And yes, a few feathery shadows falling on her would be fantastic too. Still I rate it 5. :)

The image and character are great and I agree with you about IBL, it can make a big difference to an image, I'm not an expert in IBL just learning also. 5+ :0)
