Description

I wanted to depict ...something of a "void", and starkness with this image. You could say it's a commentary on my thoughts about the negativity that permeates our lives and culture. However, it is far from how i, personally feel. It is not surprising to me though, that the teen culture in the US seems so focused on despair, hopelessness, & violence. Just turn on your TV or pick up a newspaper. *On the 6:00 NEWS* "National study proclaims More than 1 hr of daily TV viewing raises risk teens may turn violent" "30 Ariz inmates go free because paperwork is wrong..." Wow, Suzi! this is really good. I think you've captured the feelings of hopelessness and despair that you were striving to convey here. Too many of the images I see in the galleries are pin-up beauties, one right after another, and very few of them tell a story. The ones that have a story or message are the most entertaining and intereting, IMHO. Keep 'em coming!

i like this figure a lot .. but she looks sad to me more than empty ... maybe because of the expression and seeming tears on her right side?

Well, my feeling was that "empty" would be a very desolate, and sad place to be. As a side note, i forgot to add that the headlines are not fictional ones - but appeared in my local paper over the last few days.

Suzi this is gripping and touches many human emotions... I agree that empty is sad and you have captured so much in this image... I know all to well the headlines are for real... Also have two teens of my own... The world they live in is often void of hope and light... Most often they are anything but apathetic... but I do believe many would connect with the feelings of despair you so brillantly convey... Great job

a picture is worth a thousand words, isnt it? this is a definite change from what i expect to see in your gallery hehe ive often wondered how to "draw" tears...you did those well
