Description

Isn't this an interesting flower? I have no idea what it is. This is a shot I took last Spring at Wight's Nursery in Lynnwood, Washington. Andrea? Chris? PJ? Anybody know? I like the fact that there are three blossoms, three points of view, three petals each. And of course those fluffy, festive purple and yellow stamens! ..... Edit note: I knew my friends would come through for me! Thanks for the plant ID! :) Tradescantia, aka Spiderwort.

This really looks like some sort of Iris, but I can't find any pictures online to support my theory LOL. Beautiful photo, whatever they are.

This is amazing not only in the striking colors, but in the uniqueness of the flower itself. What a tremendous shot! I hope you find out the name of it because I would sure like to buy one.

I would've said Iris as well, but the leaves don't seem quite right - nonetheless, another gorgeous shot!!

I think it's a Tradescantia, probably Andersoniana group, and possibly the variety Zwanenburg Blue. The wild ones are native to North, Central and South America, and they are the same family as that ghastly pot plant that produces enless babies that you see dying in most peoples offices! A beautiful picture, Tara. In my garden these plants are slug favourites!

You can se one here Tara, looks like Andrea has it spot on. http://www.waltersgardens.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=plants.plantDetail&plant_id=843 This one looks much nicer than theirs though, much more life to it. It is a gorgeous colour and those little tufts remind me of feather dusters. Excellent capture. Bravo!!!!!
