Description

This is one of too many beautiful old homes in my city that has been abandoned. This city is dying...with the homeless problems we have here I see no reason for these homes to sit abandoned for as many as two years...some even more. Instead of opening them up to the homeless, they spend countless dollars on replacing the plywood over the windows and doors every time that the drug dealers break in...and they wonder why this city is dying... the owners are too old or too broke to care so the city gets these homes...the historical value alone would bring money to this town but they would rather spend it as stated above than to make money from it...how sad...The previous post I did of Caroline, she stays on the porch sometimes and some of the feral cats reside there.... This image also shows you the storm we are getting hit with today...snow snow go away!!! Thanks for looking and for previous comments.

Very lonely picture, it looks lost... and i was just thinking about that when i just looked at it, the homeless, but that would make sense, so it must be crazy... Grr... don't you just hate how people think sometimes? I bet the thought doesn't even register in their minds... makes me sick to see people suffer when others can help, and if they fixed the places, they'd be out of the weather and other stuff... Good pic, my friend, i'm not sure if other people see it how i do, but it its meaningful to me, keep it up, maybe it'll get through some thick heads.

Such a shame, the building is lovely, full of character but your story is a sad one. My hometown in the UK don't have such lovely houses as this but some large old buildings have been renevated into 1 room appartmnts for rehabilitating homeless to try and re-educate them etc.etc. They only get the rooms if they go along with the programme.

Such a beautiful, yet sad image. Your comments fit so well. What a waste of a lovely, old place that was a warm and comforting place for probably many years. Thoughtful capture.

I see sad irony in seeing not one,but two satellite dishes mounted there...would have rather seen the roof over the street,though,composition-wise!

One picture...a thousand words, and stories. Sad, how our government has "off-shored" the American dream. Treason..really.

Please see my image "abandoned" in my gallery. Why do I mention this? Only for one reason, the power lines. I like this photo and it sends a message of who, whom, what and circumstance surrounding the old abandoned home. My shot had a lot of power lines in it which were removed a bit at a time with a clone tool. This is only a suggestion. Not a biggie but to think about. Photography can take the same postwork as other images as the excellent abstracts in your gallery. Best wishes with the photos...it is a new game field and a good one. thanks for this fine old house.

I just wanted to leave a quick note.....this shot is AWESOME to me. It struck a nerve that made me seriously sad. Call me crazy (plenty of others have) but this is one of the best shots I have seen in a long time. Outstanding work......albiet I am depressed now. I fear for our children's future sometimes. 5 stars...easy -chachi

Maybe the government should stop taxing the s---t out of the older people. My uncle has had his house paid for many years now but the taxes are more on the house that he ever paid for a mortgage. Kind of sad I say. Great pictures you have been downloading. Makes people think. Karen

old people should be killed at birth... may sound like a unique idea, but this is really what many social-welfare officers think. looks like they are doomed to live forever. well-thought work again!
