Description

At one time I was a member of the Royal Astronomical Society of Canada... I had access to the University of Toronto observatory , the Mclaughlin Planetarium and the Dunlop Observatory just outside Toronto and to well known astronomers ... I build a telescope from scratch which is usually ( if you do it right lol )....better then the ones from the store .. you grind and grind the mirror until you get the perfect precision aperature etc .. it took 1 year of very hard work... besides that I had my own telescope and I got to see the universe from other members VERY expensive telescopes .. I was in total awe of the wonderous magnificent things that were up there ..planets ,nebulas , star clusters ,supernovas , galaxys, stars billions of light years away , so much beauty and so much more !.. it was so overwhelming !!! I even saw the suns solar flares one time from a members telescope thru a $ 10 ,000 hydrogen filter ( the only way to see the suns flares) .. it was so awe inspring ..unbelieveable .and magnificent ... the planet I loved and the first I ever saw was Saturn with its rings .. I was so freaked out to see the rings and not just in a book .... As I said I was so overwhelmed and had so many questions because the universe was so huge and it went on forever that eventually it got to me and I just couldnt do it any more plus my mentor passed away and I had to leave that world of astronomy .. it just really got to me .. the vastness of it all overwhelmed me ... it frustrated me so much .. its gorgeous and today I just look up and remember all the glorious sights that I have seen .. this fractal is a representation of just some of the sights I saw .. ( not in real colour ).. apophysis3D

That's exactly what I thought of when I saw this -- the gorgeous photos on the apod website. I love the colors and the expanding spirals....

How beautiful to view something such as that and then to recreate it here with a fractal program. This is stunning, Lu. And I am sure you have many wonderful memories to keep with you always.
