Head modelled in Makehuman, hair created in Blender 2.45.
My first try with particle system.

It would be good if the hair were a little more attached to her forehead, but I did have that problem myself when I tried to make hair with particles--trying to fix it just made other parts of the hair sink into the head. If you figure out how to fix that I'm all ears.
