BIO
My real name is Lars, and I live in Denmark. All my life I've been drawing and making pictures, occationally as a "professional" but always with an amateur ("for the love of it") approach.Being a proficient airbrush artist, the jump to computer graphics (Photoshop, Painter) wasn't all that hard for me, it was just a question of understanding how to employ the techniques to this new medium.
In july -02 I dug into the world of 3D rendering for the first time, in Bryce 5. A truly fascinating experience! My computer has been rendering ever since ;o)At the beginning I thought I'd be making lots of sci-fi stuff, but something happened right back from the early Bryce days: I started to look at trees and nature, the sky etc. in a new manner, or more intensely at least. I've always been a big fan of beautiful landscapes, and instead of sci-fi, I began a "quest" for 3D landscaping and beliveable environments.
Over the years, the 3D rendering has more or less taken over my creative endeavours. Vue became my application of choice from the start of 2003, with Poser, XFrog and Onyxtree as auxilliary programs. Plus a whole arsenal of new and ancient freeware, to be mentioned are Bantam3D Grass and Plantstudio.

I'm liking your little dirt road. In fact, I always love well done little dirt road (trails?) like that where someone takes the time to actually put a little effort into it and make so there is some rough in the center of the two wheel rutted tracks. For me, everything looks nice in that they compliment each otehr without over whelming other areas in the image. My only real complaint, would be a critique on I feel the house in the back ground is just toooo newish looking and takes away from that rural feel you have going there. Though I know it could of just been built, but it just seems too bright and stands out a bit too much. Other then that, everything else really works well with all the other little and sometimes subtle areas in your scene there. Like I love that little section to the right side of the dirt road where part of the hill is cracking and rady to crumble onto the trail there and still has some grass growing on it, just like it would in real life. 4 stars, would be 5 if the house was not so perfect looking. .................md :)

Beautiful it looks like they don't use the road very often but then I would never leave home if I lived there...

i really appreciate the grass and ground ecosystem quality...:) wish that flowered tree were more in detail. still, a very nice one over all, balanced lighting(maybe a bit dark on some shadows) and a good composition

excellent job, i like how you did your dirt road.

The vegetation, road and pond are just perfect! I kind of agree that the house looks a bit too new, but really that's just minor. Maybe they just re-painted the place. :-) Truly excellent work!

My favorite part is the section of the road on the right, in the shadow, where the soil has broken away on the edges and the fence needs repair as it runs into the lovely sloping meadow beyond. That and the trees near the house, thick with branches and budding leaves, are sublime. My only critique is the smooth rock in the foreground. It's too egg shaped and distracts from the flawless natural surroundings you've created for it. But that is indeed nitpicking, as the image overall captures the season and the mood just perfectly.

Holy cow!!! I had to look twice to find out whether it's a photograph or 3D. That little dirt road looks so amazingly realistic. Topnotch artwork!

Fabulously realistic. The grass is amazing as it has all the believable volume and flow of real grass. The clusters up the middle of the road are especially good. The shadows on the right are perfect. I especially enjoy the little details like the eroded verge of the slope in the shadow of the tree on the right. My chief negative criticism is the stone in the left foreground, which seems lacking in texture. If it had been laying for some time in that position I would expect lichen or moss to have grown on it. Considering the colour of the dirt of the road, it is also not the right colour. Aside from that small fault, this is a wonderful celebration of spring. Truly excellent.

Ah, that road - and the trees in front of the house, with the slightest touch of green.. Amazing details! As for the stone in the foreground. I have seen stones looking like that in the landscape, so it looks perfectly fine to me :)
