Description

Here, I was basically trying to do a split level underwater/abovewater scene in DAZ Studio. I wanted to see if I could do it, and chose two characters from my 'Siren's Song' tale of the Human/Mer first contact. Syleen is Siren's cousin, and Kevin is her husband, yes, Siren was not the only Mer to marry a surface dweller. :) So far, the only thing I have been unable to do in DS is caustic lighting. Even with the uberlights, it is proving difficult without a Poserlike MAT room. Still, even so, I was able to get close to what I wanted than I thought was possible in DS. :) Greywolf DAZ: Aiko 4, Lost Realms mertail for V4, Sapphire Fox Hair, Michael 3, Boxers, Mongoose, Mike's Hair (Forgot name). R'osity: Background (freestuff), Fins. RDNA: Skydome Water prop is a simple remapped cube.

Pretty cool stuff! The D/S water looks a HELL of a lot better than in Poser. One problem--Does she carry around a waterproof hairdryer? Wet hair is called for here! That pokes a hole in otherwise perfection.

Truly interesting. Wonderful how you've captured the above and below water visual. Great!!!!!

What you might consider doing is adding a 'caustic' layer to the sand texture, or doing it in Photoshop. I know that in 3ds Max, I'd just drop a .flc file or .avi onto a light and project it. There's a few plugins for DAZ that might let you use spotlights as texture projectors. There's one thing that would also 'sell' this as real, and that would be refraction of the water. Light bends in water, so the area under the surface should be 'off' from what is above, probably shorter as well. Still this is a beautiful picture and I give you a 5 for it! :)

Great achievenent! However, the sea is too flat, even for a flat sea(?). For the caustics, how about trying transparency maps?

Wonderful idea and great posing. The idea with the caustic layher on the sand should work or some light brushes in photoshop. I doubt that you can establish the wanted effect with the lighting possibilties in Studio !

This really came out amazing. As soon as I saw the WIP I knew it would be awesome when it was done, and it is.
