I am brand new to creating 3D art, though I have enjoyed perusing Renderosity for over two years, looking at all the beautiful art others have done. I had tried fiddling with Poser years ago (Poser 2 or 3, I can't remember which), I was totally lost and gave up on it. Then I got Poser 7 for my birthday this year and thought I'd give it another try. Thank goodness for Freebies!!!! Before I knew it I was running all over downloading Freebie after Freebie and seeing what I could do with them.
I have absolutely no formal training in art, let alone 3D computer generated art, but I've spent literally days browsing websites and filling my sponge-of-a-brain with tutorials. I'm the kind of person that learns best by doing than reading, and so a lot of what I've learned so far was by the age-old "let's push this button and see what it does!". I've spent a lot of time spinning dials and laughing my head off at the result....some moments of nearly coming to tears, but through it all I'm learning and having fun!
I'm a 46-year-old extremely devoted wife and mother. I love creating art (I've done pencil drawings, charcoal, pastels, watercolors), and writing (1 published short story, 2 published poems). I'm also heavily into Roleplaying, and a lot of the work I will be uploading here will have to do with my "online persona". In fact, my first picture I uploaded here, "Master's Chambers", was actually created by me to use in a 3D chat program as one of the rooms in our "virtual" home where my husband and I roleplay together.
I am hoping that people will see my work, and not be afraid to offer constructive criticism. I know I have a great deal to learn, and I very much appreciate honesty.

very cool :-) PS you'd be amazed how many of us learned how to use Poser using the "spin the dial and see what happens" approach :-)

Nice image and render :)

LOL you following me, Mapps? hehe Apollo really makes spinning the dials a lot of fun! I'm still amazed at all that he does (and can do). I could play with just him and his clothes for hours and never get bored. I do believe I have a weapons pack or two of yours that I'm just gonna have to try on Apollo. grins Thank you both, Mapps and IDonnO, for your comments. They are truely appreciated!

He turned out beautifully! A most wonderful render! I really like it! I guess I will have to try spinning the dials on Apollo myself. I haven't come up with anything as wonderful as you have on this one! Great job of creativity. I was wondering about the background behind his head. Did you mean for that geometric pattern to show up? If not, you might try turning off the backfacing polys in Poser. Sometimes these show through in a render. I know they caused me much consternation in a lot of my renders past until I accidentally figured this little tip out. I'm not sure it always works, but it has been useful in most of the renders I have tried it on. Thanks again for sharing your wonderful talents with us! Keep on rendering!

Actually the geometric pattern was a complete surprise to me when it rendered - I really liked it so I left it there. Thanks for your great comments. I've only been in this world of 3D art for about 3 weeks and have only done a small handful of renders. Thank you also for the tip! As soon as I figure out how to turn off "the backfacing polys" I'll see if that does the trick if this ever happens when I don't want it to! This guy I created with Apollo ended up looking amazingly like my husband, so I guess I'm a little biased to him too, lol.
