Description

Hello all...... Still have some misgivings about this picture but I think I'll have to wait until my skills have improved before I'm able to give it what it needs. The three main trees I modeled in Silo and the rest of the trees are modified Vue trees. Thanks for taking a look!

XLT modeling - the only thing in my eyes that needs some improvement is the bark on the trees.

WOW, this is 98% there. If you want some crit then I have these two slight observations: 1. The textures on the trees blows chunks. You have these wonderfully old gnarled trees with baby poo smear color:^). The eyes tell me I should be seeing an old dark crackly bark. 2. There isn't any defined focal point in the image. You could either add something of interest to draw the eye in, or change the lighting so that one of the trees and its corresponding hill are brighter than the rest of the image so the eye is lead to it. Aside from that, I really love everything else about it especailly the terrain modeling, the terrain texture and its grassy little weeds and flowers. 4.5

i like the big and small flowers, nice background too. the terrain is good enough, but the big trees surely need better textures and the trunk of the closest one is not natural... still, keep it up:)

Those trees are wicked but I agree with other comments that they should have better textures :)

garyandcatherine above said some worthwhile criticism, but I'm not totally sure that I agree completely. Yes, the bark texture could be better, but to me the picture does have a focus; it's the flowers and the closet tree's roots. They draw my eyes to that area immediately and powerfully. So I'm in disagreement out his/her/their(?)second point. Also, around here, we have some old trees that actually have light colored bark--Sycamores--and from a slight distance they look very "boney" in texture. Close up, though, they have a lot of peeling and cracking. Personally, I love it as it is. Will definitely add it to "muh favs."
