Description

This is a spoof on a popular British TV series. The yellow Dalek is a 1970s toy, the silver/black ones came out in the 60s. All models built in TS. Cheers Iain

" And Fiona, here, is modelling the new Spring eggbox line, in waterproof, fused plastic, delicately sprayed on.." A Dalek fashion show, now there's something that Terry Nation never dared suggest.. ;o) Nice concept, POV, modelling and colours, My friend. From an 'oldie', I think the first Dalek toys, that I remember seeing, were produced in gray plastic. They were made to be thumbsize, with no moving parts except for the requisite, state-of-the-art wee ball bearing in the base. This allolwed them to be propelled some distance on a smooth, shiny surface. Furniture lovers beware! Nostalgic regards, John.

Looking back on some of the "space toys" from the past, we that had them, smile. Very well done!

Ah, the "Rolykin" (?) Dalek toys which were used for miniature shots of the Emperor's "throne room" in "Evil of the Daleks". Yes, gang, just as the original Star Trek used the AMT model kit to represent the battle damaged Constellation and later the Enterprise itself for some window shots in "The Trouble with Tribbles", the BBC used mass market toys to fill out the ranks so to speak. OK, so they didn't look quite Cusick design accurate; who knew fans 40+ years later would be analyzing the episodes frame by frame? Heh, one of the few times a basic phong shader is the most appropriate shader for a 3D object. Great homage to the first great wave of "Dalek-mania". Sincerely, Bill

Great idea - Excellent work, nice parody. Life on Mars remains one of the best series to have ever graced my TV screen.

Thanks guys These are the Marx battery operated 'Tricky Action' Daleks. The Rolykins were the 2" tall ones with the ball-bearing. These were about 8". Smaller 5" ones had a friction drive. I think the bigger ones were in "Evil". I think they were also used in the 2nd movie to represent the black Dalek and the red one as they fell down the mine shaft.

Fantastic models. I have recently seen a reposition of the old movie and the figures are perfectly done.

As a Dalek fan of old, I salute you. The first Dalek models that I owned were sold in Woolworths in the early 60's. They were terrible !!
