Description

The star that Hyong Gui IV circles around is a G2 star 1.1 times our sun's brightness. Hyong Gui IV is a young planet in a young star system, which at 1270 million years of age, is 3280 million years younger than our own star sytem. Located toward the cooler edge of the habitation zone of its parent, it has an annual surface temperature of 5 degrees Celsius (41 F). Hyong Gui IV has an orbital radius 1.11 of Earth's 1.0 and a rotation period around its star of 1.17 Earth years. The planet's mass is 1.1 1and its surface gravity is 1.04 of Earth's. With a radius of 6551.54 kilometers (4094.72 miles) it is just barely larger in size than Earth. All of this information is significant. It means that Hyong Gui IV's size and location insures that large bodies of water will form upon its surface. Most of Hyong Gui IV's surface is is covered with ocean. Life is abundant beneath its waves and on land alien versions of mosses, lichens, bacteria and the like are spreading across its continents and islands. The air is mostly Nitrogen, some hydrogen, and carbon dioxide. The is oxygen present, but not so much that a human could survive breathing the atmosphere. The planet is a prime candidate for terraforming and colonization, but before that can be done, an extremely thorough ecological study of the planet has to be done--a study that might take a century or more to complete. In the past, mistakes have been made by the Human race in their drive to colonize the stars. Mistakes that have been costly, or unconscionable--or both. The race has determined to do better in the future; not from a sense of altruisium toward the universe, but a recognition that it is in its own best interests to behave so. ________________________ Thanks for looking. I love the expansive loneliness that you've portrayed here and the detailed description of the planet is a nice bonus. Kudos!

Good POV, fine metaltextures on the vehicles..cool background information though i doubt there would be to much hydrogen in the atmosphere keeping in mind what happend to the Hindenburg.

You know it would be a very sad commentary on human race if all we end up doing is inhabit a planet, pollute it until it is no longer inhabitable, and then move on to the next. Great image!

Hmm, you say some H2 & some Oxy, the two components of water; wouldn't the carbon dioxide need to be largely converted before before any issues of colonization would arise? Sorry - just thinking out loud, with a very weary mind. darned nice work. :-)
