I don't really know if the term is correct but this is what I call shallow dof Elizabeth, were only a minute section of the object is in focus but those bits that are in focus pack a punch. I get this a lot on rounded objects no matter what f stop is used, more so with the extreme macro lens. This thimble an every day object in my mothers house when she was alive, packs that punch and makes a superb photogenic subject. Excellent work. Bravo!!!!!

Very nice, I have a small collection of thimbles, most of them are so decorative they really wouldn't work great for a sewing project. Great day to you as well..

Bravo! Beautiful detail. for me this is history...I remember when sewing was a 'mandatory subject' in school and I so hated it, lol! Sadly becoming a lost art! But it also reminds me of my gran who was a teacher and seamstress...her house was full of bolts of fabric and every sewing notion you can imagine...but she had a collection of thimbles from all over the world and from porcelain to metal..thanks for the memory!

I love the DOF, works well in composing the important facets in the rest of the picture.

What a cool macro! I love this object, it reminds me of my grand-mother who is still alive and turning 106 this year, she was born in 1902, isn't that mind-blowing! Anyhow, she used one of those all the time. Your image brings back lovely memories of childhood, thank you :)
