Description

This is the updated model of Antilus with a skin texture applied so that I can study the way the face is developing. Antilus was a great warrior- the son of Gaia- who grew stronger in battle when thrown to the ground. In the story I'm telling he is more like the Fantastic Four's Thing mixed with the Sandman. *Madbat* A striated texture would be a great idea. I was thinking of sandstone as a base with deep color gradients moving vertically up the torso. Thanks for the idea!

What a wonderful expression you've gotten on this face! Excellent work. I like the way you've lit your render, as well.

looking good. nice detail in the skin texture. i think some SSS would really sharpen this guy up, but he looks pretty good anyways. EDIT: oh, sss is subsurface scattering. makes the skin appear more lifelike. it's what allows light to pass through objects, such as skin, wax, liquid, etc, rather than have everything look like it's made of thick plastic or something. i never messed with it until about a month ago, and now i swear by it :) check it out here: http://www.blender.org/development/release-logs/blender-244/subsurface-scattering/

Thanks for the link. I usually rendered this model in Bryce. I really don't know why, but I always render in Bryce. I' don't even know how to access Blender's render settings, but I guess it's time to learn. Regarding this image however, the character will be rendered with a rock texture, but in situations where he manifests himself as a semi-opaque material like sandstone/sand, marble, jade, etc., this will be extremely useful. Thanks again.

Neat Blender work! Taming that app is something of a feat in itself!
